Date Spot Volume 4 - Wilson and Market
Anyone who follows me on some form of social media will know that I spend an inordinate amount of time at Wilson and Market. Breakfast, lunch, dinner I have done it and then some. It's without a doubt one of my favourite spots and one I highly recommend for so many reasons.
There is firstly the location. Prahran Market. Nuff said. I mean I would spend hours a day in there if I could and having something seriously delicious and pleasant to boot on the outskirts of it, is just so freaking tremendous. The B&C and I go here for brekkie pre our markets run most weeks, we have ourselves a little nosh and head in to scout the bargains of the week and he buys me flowers. It's one of my fave times of the week. How fun would that be for a date to have a little brekkie or lunch since the markets are open til 4pm on the weekends and go exploring the markets before or after? I'll tell you now it's lush, because I go on a date there just about every week and can tell you how great it is.
Secondly the food. Noms about sums it up. It's seriously good grub, sophisticated without being pretentious, as in it's real people food. Dudes will love it for its legend list of protein including one of the best beef I have had and the ladies will dig it for well, everything. There's something for everyone on the menu and it's all fresh and heavenly. You'll leave feeling completely satisfied and a little smug because it is really very nutritious, so much leafiness on offer in amongst the proteins and carbs.
The Milawa chicken is so darned tasty and the soft shell mud crab and sea urchin risotto for lunch is life changing. The Rotisserie Cape Grim beef rib, horseradish and beetroot relishes and the millet and cauliflower mash with hazelnuts is a match made in my type of heaven. The menu is so extensive it's hard to know where to start, but that ain't a bad thing as there are so many lovely W&M staff on hand to give you suggestions.
Now, you're probably thinking, this woman goes way too much and how is it different from brekkie to lunch to dinner, don't you get sick of the same place? Nup… I went for dinner the first time a few weeks back and it was such a different setting to the day crowd, I've sat in different spots every time I have been and it really does feel different every time. People also get weird about somewhere that does all three meals of the day, if you were this good, you would too. I seriously can't speak highly enough for it.
One thing I haven't done is the oysters and the gins, but come hell or high water, this will happen before I see 2017 out. I think this would be such a great little date idea *cue oyster jokes* there's probably that, but also I love a little novelty, so if you do go and try that, tell me immediately how it is!
It's winner winner chicken lunch and dinner.
