Love and Life Consultations of a Different Kind - Is it in the stars?

One of my greatest interest and curiosities in life has been around spirituality and the idea that there is something out there that guides us in life. Star signs and astrology fascinate me. The idea that life can literally be written is just such a romantic idea and one that I have wholeheartedly embraced.

My career, while something I enjoy and find joy in, is very black and white, but, over the years I have met some quirky, brilliant and beautiful free spirits, whose feet are firmly on the ground, successful and sure of life, but whose heads remain in the stars, dreaming and understanding that life is sometimes bigger than just us earthlings.

One of those people is the lovely Katherine Gillies. A lawyer by trade and a complete free spirit in life. Katherine’s Zenttrify, a very well followed blog and Instagram account (follow her immediately) is both interesting and inspiring, but above all else, and why I have asked her to be a part of my humble blog, she loves love.

Katherine, I love the idea of your Soul Hacks, can you tell us a bit more about how they work and what people can expect from a Soul Hack?

Thank you! I created Soul Hacks as a way to assist people on their journey home to themselves, on their path to reconnection with their soul and to the truth of who they are. That’s my objective.

Life gets busy - nothing new there - but often it’s our connection to self that becomes neglected or suppressed in the process. When that happens, we often feel dis-ease in the body, anxious thoughts and feelings and a sense of inner chaos or disconnection from our self, our purpose or from others. Simply put, you can feel slightly “off beat”.

A soul hack can help us to remember who we truly are and what we are here to do. Through the tarot, which ultimately provides a holographic reflection of our inner world, it opens space for the client to reconnect to themselves. A session can assist in remembering what lights you up, helps you discover your purpose and also offers practical steps to alleviate stress and redirect you so you’re back on track.

I am sure one of the biggest burning questions people have when consulting with you is around love and when people might find it. Does it make you nervous consulting people on this? Do you find you need to set some expectations?

Absolutely… love is definitely a hot topic! I love consulting on love, it is one of my favourite subjects to speak about. But here’s the thing with timing… time is not linear and I always make that clear to people having sessions with me. When we pull cards they simply reflect the person’s inner world — at that point in time — and free will plays a massive part here too.

At the end of the day, anyone is able to bring love into their life. All they have to do is be an energetic match to that vibration. It really is that simple, and that complex! What we put out into life, is reflected straight back to us. But by using modalities such as the tarot, we can uncover self-limiting beliefs and subconscious habits that are deterring us from our true course or holding us back from ascending into higher energetic vibrations.  

You use a number of modalities, techniques and therapies when consulting with people, which do you find the most popular / effective in your soul hacks?

There are a couple of things I swear by.

My number one tool is without a doubt my cards. I currently have about 15 decks of tarot, angel, goddess, soul journey, lightworker, Rumi, animal kin and flower therapy cards… but the collection is constantly growing! The cards are infused with my essence and we work together to uncover the answers to your questions. They are very powerful and I respect them for that power.

I also really love using astrology to understand people and their impetus and inclinations in life. Astrology can quickly and easily divulge innate drivers in people and allow for greater ease in relationships of all types.  

Lastly, it would be amiss of me not to mention my essential oils here too. The ancient plant magic in pure essential oils (yes, there’s a difference) can help you push through subconscious pattering. By simply diffusing essential oils in a room it instantly lifts the energetic vibration of the space. They have revolutionised my life and the lives of people I’ve shared them with on a physical, emotional and spiritual level — such powerful plant medicine.

Have you had sceptics consult with you? If so, have you managed to convert them?

If I’m honest, I don’t tend to attract sceptics into my realm. Everything in this universe is in tune to a specific vibration, so those who are attracted to a Soul Hack session seem to be on board, or at least open, to exploring the magic that is their soul.

Regarding sceptics in general… I never try and push my beliefs onto anybody, especially not onto a sceptic. Those who are not ready will simply never hear you. I am unapologetically me, which I find often creates the space for people to be unapologetically them. And it’s in that space of openness where people are willing to talk about or explore subjects or even aspects of themselves that they hadn’t dared to delve into before.

I am a strong believer in any time being the potential time you fall in love, but astrologically speaking, can you share when some strong love vibes might be present?

Astrologically speaking, we look to love planet Venus for insights into love. However, there are so many other aspects astrologically that can hint to a formula for potential incoming love. To keep things simple, I’ll let you in on one aspect that seems to really rev up one’s love life: Venus return.

Every year, Venus comes back around and crosses the point in your astrological chart when it was when you were born. At that time, you are often more attractive than usual and you have a stronger chance to meet a romantic partner — the stars are literally in your favour.

It’s really interesting to go back and see where you were and who you met on your Venus returns! I’ve done it and it’s eerily accurate.
